Is it Really Dark or Just a Natural Occurrence in Nature? Ghosts, Truth or Fiction

Friday, April 30th, 2010
Justin Pretorius asked:

For eons the human imagination has focused on things that cannot be seen or things that happen and are unexplainable. What causes this phenomenon, these paranormal activities and is the force behind them good or evil, dangerous or curious and natural or unnatural? Famous scientists and intrepid explorers have vouched at the possibility that these lingering apparitions of long deceased fellows still haunt our waking world and go out of their way, daily, to prove the existence of such paranormal occurrences.

People have photographic, cinemagraphic and witness evidence of things such as transparent spirits, Will O’ the Wisps, Headless horsemen and other paranormal activities such as objects moving without human or natural intervention, doors slamming, lights flickering, and presence of mystical orbs.

The arguments for or against these paranormal occurrences are numerous with “scientists” on either side of the argument trying to disclaim or prove what the previous one had said. Why the fascination though, why would someone try to prove something with instruments that are probably incorrect for the use in the study they are busy with in the first place? Intrepid ghost hunting has become the livelihood of many an entrepreneur willing to take advantage of the gullible nature of paranormal scientists in their quest to prove the inexplicable. Theses humble entrepreneurs go out of their way to sell paranormal scientists equipment used for ghost hunting that often cost hundreds to thousands of dollars where probably the most humble of equipment could do exactly the same job.

Do not get me wrong, I am in no way suggesting that there are no ghosts nor am I suggesting that there are, it just infuriates me to see people been taken advantage off by others who should know better. But then again if people are gullible enough to fall for such things then maybe they should be taken advantage of.

I myself am fascinated by the subject of ghosts as it plays a relatively unusual roll in the human psyche. Have your parents or even you not ever scared you or your children into behaving by telling you that this or that spirit, ghoul or other entity will come and get you or your child if there is no behaving.  Also you have often heard stories of ghosts, spirits or other entities doing good for fellows in history by leading them out of danger or even leading others to their rescue. These paranormal beings have featured in stories where they have comforted, reassured and uplifted the spirit of those around them. Yet there is always an evil element to every character and you have probably heard of paranormal happening where people have been injured, killed, and mentally scared. Now the question that one has to ask is whether the injuries were self inflicted or were they perhaps bought about through mishandlement. Look at young children that are physically hurt by these so called paranormal events, they often portrait scratches, bruises and shallow cuts and these are even bought about under controlled conditions where the children are sleeping and with nobody near them.

The arguments are often endless and tend to go in continuous circles but there is no mistaking that through out history the subject has fascinated human kind and this even before the advent of scientists. So make up your own mind about what or what not to believe but do so with an open mind and without fear. Go and do those ghost tours, find your own sightings and explore the other side of human nature and only once you have done that will you be able to say with surety that you do or do not believe in ghosts.

Why Western Men Find Asian Brides Ideal

Friday, April 30th, 2010
Elaine Edwards asked:

ern men today find it difficult to secure a bride in their home country, hence, they search abroad for marriage. These days, Western men prefer Asian mail order brides for marriage. A mail order bride is a woman who signs herself up with a marriage agency who extends to her of becoming a spouse to a male foreigner looking for a bride.

The mail order bride system has exploded in recent years, with thousands of young women coming to the United States by way of marriage to Western men. Today, there are numerous of online dating services featuring young, beautiful Asian women in search of Western counterparts. It is estimated that up to 150,000 women from different countries register themselves to apply as mail order brides.

Many Western men today prefer to have an Asian as their wife because they are very attractive physically. They are very feminine, petite and slender with delicate features and innate grace. An Asian bride is also gentle and polite because a typical Asian upbringing engenders its women with the importance of manners and respect for others.

They are also very loyal and attentive to their partner. Marriage is valued very highly in Asian culture and is seen as a commitment to be undertaken with the utmost seriousness. As a matter of fact, most Asian countries have very low divorce rate as differences between spouses are decided accordingly due to this commitment. Asian brides also are highly conscious of the paramount significance of family. In essence, Asian women have grown up respecting traditions that have existed in their homelands for thousands of years, of which marriage and family are an indispensable part.

Compared to other foreign brides, Asian brides are also easily adaptable to new cultures. One of the pleasing trait of Asian women, their friendliness and politeness, guarantees that they can make new friends easily wherever they go. They also view the West highly so that they are easily assimilate to Western culture.

Asian women also notice the benefits in marriage to Western men and get its worth associated with it. They value Western men for their deference, consideration and chivalry. However, you cannot easily match these attributes to their male counterparts in their own countries. In Asian culture, women are seen as being secondary and indeed subservient to their husbands, rather than interacting on the same level as them. Asian women are also raised to be very polite and respectful. These traits are not reciprocated in their own countries due to their second class treatment.

Asian women also value the security that Western men can give them. Asian women advertising themselves as mail order brides have an inherent desire to enter into marriage and family life and understand that Western men can offer the stability, both economically and emotionally. Most countries in Asia are underdeveloped economically so that staying home is not a viable option. Marriage to Western men is viewed as a way out of the endemic poverty across some Asian countries.

Even if Western men are older, which can be a negative perception in Western marraiges, Asian brides view this positively. Asian cultures generally values wisdom, maturity and dependability that comes with age.

Why Do American Men Seek Mail Order Brides?

Friday, April 30th, 2010
Bob Miles asked:

Why are so many American men seeking brides from abroad when there are so many single women at home? There are several reasons:

(1) Nobody at home wants to marry them (in some cases)

Unfortunately, the popular image of the alcoholic, abusive loser who takes a foreign bride because no local woman will marry him is sometimes accurate. It would certainly be painting with too broad a brush to say that all American men who seek international brides are like this, the abusive personality does seem to be well represented among men seeking bride from overseas. It makes a lot of sense when you think about it – the foreign bride often knows very little about her husband when she comes over. By the time she discovers who he really is, she is far from home, economically dependent, unable to afford to go back home, and sometimes pregnant. Abusers sometimes take full advantage of this situation by forcing their brides to submit to treatment that few American women would put up with.

(2) Citizenship in a prosperous Western nation greatly increases their position in the marriage market. The hope of a new life in rich America (or some other Western country) is certainly the top reason why women from third world countries wish to marry Western men (if you don’t think so, ask yourself how many of these women pursue men from Peru or Indonesia). Since the number of women is far greater than the number of Western men looking for them, supply and demand favors the Western man. It thus becomes no problem at all for a man in his 50s to marry a 20-year-old Chinese model, for example.

(3) A lot of American men don’t like American women. One could say that opposite attract, but complaints abound among a certain segment of American men that feminism has gone too far, that it no longer has anything to do with equal rights or fairness, and that it has morphed US women into a third gender – neither masculine nor feminine, confused about their gender identity, and forever competing rather than cooperating to prove that “women can do anything men can do”. This silent war between the sexes creates a competitive atmosphere, some say, that destroys any chance for true intimacy between spouses. Because of this, American men turn to foreign countries to find a bride (and American women increasingly look overseas for husbands!).
