The most effective way to do this is to simply ask the person you are involved with what local stores he or she prefers, and then do business with them directly (you will find a surprising number of stores all over the world have websites – most of them with an option for English). While this does tend to take the element of surprise out of your gift giving, it is a simple way to save both time and money.
